Rahim Alihuseyn oghlu Huseynov (Azerbaijani: Rəhim Əlihüseyn oğlu Hüseynov) was an important Azerbaijani politician. He was born on April 5, 1936, and passed away on November 12, 2023. He served as the third Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. A Prime Minister is the head of the government in a country, helping to lead and manage its affairs.
Early Life and Education
Rahim Huseynov was born in Baku, a major city in Azerbaijan. He went to the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys from 1953 to 1959. There, he earned a degree in Metallurgy Engineering. This means he studied how to work with metals.
After college, from 1959 to 1962, he worked at a factory in Azerbaijan that made pipes. Later, from 1962 to 1965, he led a department at the Azerbaijan SSR State Planning Committee. This was a government group that helped plan the country's economy. He also worked as a deputy manager and chairman for a committee that handled money and supplies. In the 1990s, Huseynov helped start and lead the Azerbaijani Scientists and Engineers Union.
Political Career
Rahim Huseynov played a big role in the government. From 1989 to 1992, he was the chairman of the Azerbaijan State Planning Committee. He was also a deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan. The Cabinet of Ministers is a group of top government officials who help the Prime Minister run the country.
In May 1992, Huseynov was chosen to be the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. He held this important position until January 1993. During his time as Prime Minister, the country's economy faced some challenges. He decided to step down from his role in January 1993.
Later Life and Passing
Rahim Huseynov passed away on November 12, 2023, at the age of 87. He was laid to rest next to his wife at Yasamal cemetery in Baku.

Throughout his career, Rahim Huseynov received several awards for his work. These included the Order of Friendship of Peoples, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, and the Order of the Badge of Honour. These awards recognized his contributions and service.
