Flen Municipality (in Swedish: Flens kommun) is a special area in central Södermanland County in southeast Sweden. It's like a local government area. The main town, or "seat," where the local government offices are, is called Flen.
This municipality was created in 1971. It brought together the old City of Flen, the market town of Malmköping, and the countryside around them. This change helped organize local services better.

Exploring Flen's Geography
Flen Municipality is mostly flat land, not near the sea. It has many lakes and rivers. The lowest points are around 19 meters (62 feet) above sea level. You can find these low areas near the lakes of Långhalsen and Torpfjärden in the southeast.
The highest point in the municipality is about 103 meters (338 feet) high. This spot is where the borders of Flen, Gnesta, and Strängnäs municipalities meet.

Local Elections and Government
Like all places in Sweden, Flen Municipality has local elections. In these elections, people vote for representatives to make decisions about their community. These decisions cover things like schools, roads, and local services.
The results of these elections show how people in Flen Municipality vote for different political parties in Sweden. These votes help decide who represents them in the Swedish Riksdag, which is the national parliament.
