Flora Montgomery was born in Greyabbey, County Down, Northern Ireland. This was at her family's old home. She went to Rockport School in County Down. Later, she studied at Downe House School in Berkshire, England. Flora then decided to study drama at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland. She finished her studies there in 1994.
Flora Montgomery's Acting Career Highlights
Flora Montgomery has had a successful acting career. She won an award called the Irish Times Best Actress Award. This was for her main role in a play called Miss Julie. She has also played important characters in other famous plays. These include Yelena in Chekov's Uncle Vanya and Ophelia in Hamlet. She also played Katherina in The Taming of The Shrew.
Flora has worked with modern playwrights too. One example is Neil LaBute, who directed her in the play Bash. She was also in the first-ever performance of The Reckoning. This play had only two actors, with Flora and Jonathan Pryce. She also acted in the award-winning play Dinner. Both of these plays were shown in the famous West End in London. Flora has also recorded many plays for radio. One of these was Frederic Raphael's The Glittering Prizes.
In 2003, Flora was recognized as one of Europe's "Shooting Stars". This award highlights talented new actors in European films. She has appeared in many popular TV shows. These include The Bill, Urban Gothic, Pulling Moves, and Midsomer Murders. She also acted in the 2001 film The Discovery of Heaven. In 2006, she was in Basic Instinct 2. On August 30, 2014, Flora Montgomery got married. She married Søren Jessen, who is a restaurateur from Denmark. Their wedding took place at Greyabbey. This is on the Montgomery family's land in Northern Ireland.
