Florence is a small city in Williamson County, Texas, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,171 people lived there. Florence has grown a bit since 2000.
The city is located in northwestern Williamson County. It is about 13 miles (21 km) north of Georgetown. Florence is also about 40 miles (64 km) north of Austin. It is part of the larger Greater Austin area.

History of Florence
People first settled in the area around Florence in the early 1850s. For a short time, it was called Brooksville. By 1857, it was known as Florence. This is when the first post office opened in the town.
Florence was once an important place for processing cotton. A railway line, called the Bartlett-Florence Railway, was planned to reach Florence. This line connected to the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad in Bartlett. The railway started in 1909 but was no longer used by 1935.
Geography and Climate
Florence is located about 40 miles (64 km) north of Austin. The United States Census Bureau says the city covers about 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2). All of this area is land.
