Florian Pittiș (Romanian: [floriˈan ˈpitiʃ]; 1943–2007) was a famous Romanian actor, theatre director, folk music singer, and radio producer. He was known for his unique voice and his love for music and theatre.

Life and Career

Florian Pittiș was born in Bucharest, Romania. He went to the Gheorghe Lazăr High School in his hometown. Later, he studied at the Institute of Theatre and Film, finishing in 1966. His teacher was the well-known actor Radu Beligan.

After graduating, he started working at the Bulandra Theatre, one of the best theatres in Bucharest. He worked with famous directors like Andrei Șerban and Liviu Ciulei. In the early 1970s, he even went to Paris to study with Marcel Marceau, a very famous mime artist. A mime artist tells stories or shows feelings without using words, only body movements.

Music and Radio Work

Florian Pittiș loved music. In 1992, he helped start a band called Pasărea Colibri. He was also a big fan of the American singer Bob Dylan. Pittiș translated and sang many of Dylan's songs in Romanian. Some of these included "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Mr. Tambourine Man".

In 1998, he became the director of Radio Romania Tineret. This radio station later became Radio3Net in 2004. It was special because it was the only Romanian radio station that broadcasted only on the internet.

His Public Image

Florian Pittiș was loved by people of all ages. He was known for his long hair and casual clothes. He also had a very special voice. People called him "the prophet of the blue-jeans generation." They also said he had "the most beautiful voice in the Romanian theater."

Roles in Movies and Cartoons

He played the role of the Parrot in the 1976 children's musical movie "Ma-ma". This movie was a co-production between Romania, the Soviet Union, and France. It was also known as "Rock'n Roll Wolf" in English. The movie was popular in countries like the Netherlands and Norway.

In 1993, Walt Disney Pictures offered him a special job. He became the voice of Winnie-the-Pooh for the Romanian version of the cartoon series, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. He was one of the first actors in Romania to dub a Disney series.
