Florida Civil Rights Hall of Fame facts for kids
The Florida Civil Rights Hall of Fame is a special place that honors people who have worked hard for civil rights in Florida. Civil rights are the basic rights and freedoms that all people should have, like being treated fairly no matter their race, religion, or background. This Hall of Fame is located in the Florida State Capitol building. The Florida Department of Management Services helps manage it. It was started in 2010 after everyone in the Florida Legislature voted for it.
In 2019, Florida's governor, Ron DeSantis, added three new people to the Hall of Fame. These were attorney Daniel Webster Perkins, Dr. Charles Ullman Smith, and Henry “Hank” James Thomas.
