History of Floris
Floris has a long history. A post office was first opened in Floris way back in 1847. This means people have been living and sending mail from Floris for a very long time!
Geography of Floris
Floris is located in a pretty spot. It sits on the southern edge of the Soap Creek floodplain. A floodplain is a flat area of land next to a river that might get flooded when the river overflows.
The city is about 8.5 miles (about 13.7 kilometers) north-northeast of a larger town called Bloomfield. The United States Census Bureau says that Floris covers a total area of about 0.59 square miles (1.52 square kilometers), and all of this area is land.

Floris Population in 2020
In 2020, the census counted 116 people living in Floris. There were 42 households and 32 families in the city. Most of the people living in Floris were White (96.6%). About 3.4% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Many households (40.5%) had children under 18 years old living with them. More than half of the households (52.4%) were married couples living together. The average age of people in Floris was 43 years old. About 29.3% of the residents were under 20 years old, and 21.6% were 65 years or older.
