About Florrie
Her Early Life and Music Start
Florrie, whose full name is Florence Arnold, was born on 28 December 1988 in Bristol, England. She went to Colston's Girls' School. She left school when she was 17. Florrie became interested in playing the drums when she was six years old. This happened during a family holiday in Greece.
As a teenager, she started her own band called Fi Fi Saloon. They played songs by Avril Lavigne and their own original songs. She described their music as "punky girl rock-pop." When she was 17, Florrie moved to London. She played with several bands there. One band, Selfservice, signed a deal with songwriter Guy Chambers. Florrie played with Selfservice at night and worked as a nanny during the day.
Joining Xenomania
Florrie met the manager of Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi. This led her to try out for the house band of Xenomania. Xenomania is a very successful music production team based in Kent. Before joining Xenomania, Florrie worked at GAP. She quit as soon as she got the job as a professional drummer.
Her first job was playing drums on Girls Aloud's song "The Promise" in 2008. She also helped with office work. She played drums and programmed drum sounds for songs produced by Xenomania. These included songs for Alesha Dixon, Rebecca Ferguson, Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, and The Saturdays.
Florrie also helped write some songs. She co-wrote "One Touch" (2010) for Mini Viva. She also co-wrote "Something New" (2012) for Girls Aloud. And "What Are You Waiting For?" (2014) for The Saturdays. Brian Higgins, a producer at Xenomania, encouraged Florrie to sing one of her own songs. This made her want to start her own music career.
Releasing Music Independently
Florrie's first song release was a remix of "Call 911" by Fred Falke. It was released in February 2010. Over 1,000 people downloaded it in just a few days. In mid-2010, Florrie became the face of the new Nina Ricci perfume, Nina L'Elixir. She appeared in the TV commercial for the perfume. In the ad, she sang a cover of Blondie's "Sunday Girl". She also appeared in print ads. In July 2010, The Guardian newspaper featured Florrie in their "New Band of the Day" column. She also released three more remix-only songs: "Panic Attack" (April 2010), "Fascinate Me," and "Come Back to Mine" (May 2010).
Florrie released her first EP, Introduction, in November 2010. It was available on iTunes and for free download on her website. Limited vinyl copies were also made. Music blogs praised her music. They also noted that her songs were free and showed interest in her future work. People noticed that Florrie's music became known through online social networks. Florrie told Ponystep magazine that it was important to connect with fans. She wanted them to feel like they discovered her, not a big company.
Florrie's second EP, Experiments, came out in June 2011. It received a great review from About.com. The main song, "Begging Me", was released in April 2011. The music video for her second song, "I Took a Little Something", was made with fashion company Dolce & Gabbana. Her third EP, Late, was released in May 2012 on iTunes. It came with the song "Shot You Down". MuuMuse wrote that every part of the EP had a great hook and danceable beats.

Working with Sony Music
In mid-2012, Florrie announced she would sign with a major record label. This meant Late was her last independent release. The label was later reported to be Sony Music. In February 2013, Florrie became the face of the denim brand Vigoss for their spring 2013 ads. Florrie also appeared in a commercial for Sony's XBA-C10 headphones. This ad came out in April 2013 and featured her song "Live a Little".
Florrie released her fourth EP, Sirens, in April 2014. Music videos were made for three of its songs. A song called "Little White Lies" followed in August 2014. The music video for Florrie's 2015 song "Too Young to Remember" was shown online by fashion store H&M. H&M chose Florrie to lead their worldwide "H&M Loves Music" campaign.
Her first album was planned for 2015 and then for late 2016. Florrie recorded with many songwriters and producers. These included Joel Little, Tim Anderson, MoZella, Jesse Shatkin, and Twin. Twin produced and co-wrote Florrie's song "Real Love" (released in early 2016). Florrie and Sony had different ideas for her music. Because of this, they decided to part ways. This also meant her album was not released at that time.
Becoming Independent Again
In 2019, Florrie returned to music with the song "Borderline." She signed with Xenomania's new record label. She also became a member of a group called Capulets, where she plays and writes music. Later that year, she released another song called "Unstable."
From 2019 to 2023, Florrie released twelve songs. Eleven of these songs were included in her first collection album, Personal. The song "Butterflies" was not included. Personal also featured a new song with the same name. With this release, Florrie said she was closing a chapter. She announced that her first album would finally be released in 2024. Her debut album The Lost Ones was released in June 2024. The album reached number 36 in the UK charts.
In August 2024, Florrie released a new song called "Swimming Pool" with its music video. As of spring 2025, Florrie shared on Instagram that she is writing new music. She plans to make a second album.
Florrie's Music Style
Florrie described her music style as "a big mixture." She said it has a "sixties, organic feel merged with modern pop beats and electronics." She also told Metro that she grew up listening to her dad's Beatles records. But she also loves electronic music and enjoys making upbeat songs for dancing.
The Guardian writer Paul Lester said Florrie's music is "slicker, brighter pop." He noted it is "breezy." Time magazine wrote in 2014 that her pop music is "playful, propulsive, and built around rhythm." They noted it shows the influence of her work as a drummer for Xenomania.
