Flowood is a city in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States. It's a suburb of Jackson, located northeast of the state capital. In 2020, about 10,202 people lived there. Flowood is part of the larger Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Flowood's History
Flowood officially became a city in 1953. This happened after a group of people from the community asked the Governor to make it a city in 1950. Even though there was some disagreement, the Mississippi Supreme Court agreed with the decision.
In 2009, people in Flowood voted to allow restaurants and hotels to serve liquor. This changed the city's rules about alcohol.
City Geography
Flowood covers an area of about 16.6 square miles (43 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 16.3 square miles (42.2 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.3 square miles (0.8 square kilometers), is water.
