History of Floyd

The city of Floyd is named after Charles Floyd. He was a sergeant who traveled with the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition. This expedition explored the western parts of the United States in the early 1800s. Floyd County is also named after him. The first post office in Floyd opened in 1855.

Geography and Location

Floyd is located in Iowa at specific coordinates: 43.127494 degrees North and 92.739628 degrees West. It sits right by the Cedar River. This river is an important natural feature in the area.
