Floyd Miles (born April 13, 1943 – died January 25, 2018) was an American musician. He was a talented guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Floyd played electric blues and soul blues music. He released four solo albums starting in 1992.

The Life of Floyd Miles
Floyd Miles was born in Daytona Beach, Florida. He grew up there as the youngest of eleven children. When he was 15 years old, he left home to start his own path.
Starting His Music Journey
Floyd's music career began in the early 1960s. He joined a soul band called The Universals. They were very popular in their local area. Floyd was the singing drummer for this band. During this time, he became friends with Gregg and Duane Allman. They lived nearby and often played music with The Universals.
After playing drums and singing with other local groups, Floyd started his own band. His band helped famous musicians like Arthur Conley, Erma Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, Eddie Floyd, and Percy Sledge. Because of his friendship with the Allman brothers, Floyd later played guitar for Clarence Carter. He even performed with the famous London Symphony Orchestra.
Solo Albums and Tours
Floyd Miles released his first solo album, Crazy Man, in 1992. His friends Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts helped him with the music on this album. In 1994, he released his second album, Goin' Back to Daytona.
Floyd became more well-known across the country when he toured with the Gregg Allman & Friends. His third album, Mountain to Climb, came out in 1999. His last recording was Another Man Will, released in 2002. Floyd also performed at music events like the Boundary Waters Blues Festival. He played at the Sarasota Blues Fest in both 1996 and 2009.
His Passing
Floyd Miles passed away on January 25, 2018. He was 74 years old.
