Francis Pollet was born on May 5, 1964, in Roubaix, France. He is a French professor and a high-ranking military officer, known as a General officer. From 2017 to 2022, he was the director-general of the Institut polytechnique des sciences avancées, which is a private university in France focused on aerospace engineering.

Francis Pollet's Early Career
Francis Pollet studied at the École de l'air, a famous French air force academy. He graduated in 1985. He began his career as a fighter pilot and also flew cargo planes. He completed over 100 missions during this time.
Later, he became a pilot for the French government. He flew important leaders like Prime Minister Lionel Jospin and President Jacques Chirac. He piloted special planes for them, including the Dassault Falcon 900 and the Airbus Corporate Jet.
Working with the Ministry of Defense
After his time as a government pilot, Francis Pollet spent 15 years working in human resources and managing operations. He also became an aviation advisor. He gave advice to four different Ministers of Defense in France. These ministers included Hervé Morin, Alain Juppé, Gérard Longuet, and Jean-Yves Le Drian.
Leading Aerospace Education
On September 1, 2003, Francis Pollet was chosen to be the general director of the École de l'air. While in this role, he helped the academy become more modern by using digital technology. He even created a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) for air defense.
In March 2017, he became the CEO of the Institut Polytechnique des Sciences Avancées. This is a well-known French grande école (a type of elite higher education institution) that specializes in aeronautical and space engineering. He left this position on June 30, 2022. Valérie Cornetet then took over as the CEO of the college.
