The Franconian Dialect (called German: Fränkischer Dialekt in German) is a group of related ways of speaking. These are not separate languages, but rather different forms of the German and Dutch languages. People speak these dialects in several parts of Europe.

Where is Franconian Spoken?

Franconian dialects are heard in many places. You can find them in parts of Belgium, especially in the Flanders area. They are also spoken in French Flanders, which is a region in France close to Belgium.

Franconian in the Netherlands and Luxembourg

In the Netherlands, most people speak a form of Franconian. However, the very northeast part of the country does not use it. The small country of Luxembourg also has its own Franconian dialect, which is called Luxembourgish.

Franconian in Germany

A large area of western central Germany uses Franconian dialects. This includes regions like Franconia, Hesse, and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia. These dialects show how languages can change and grow over time across different countries.
