Frank Resnik's Early Life and Education

Frank E. Resnik was born in Pleasant Unity, Pennsylvania, on October 14, 1928. After finishing high school, he joined the United States Army. In the Army, he became an instructor, teaching others, and rose to the rank of first field sergeant.

After his time in the military, Resnik went to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He received a special scholarship to play football there. In 1952, he graduated with a degree in chemistry. Later, he continued his studies and earned a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia.

A Career in Business Leadership

Frank Resnik started his professional journey as a research chemist. He joined Philip Morris in Richmond, Virginia, in the 1950s. He worked on scientific research for the company.

Over the years, he took on more important roles. In 1980, he became an executive vice president for Philip Morris's Tobacco Technology Group. This meant he helped lead the company's scientific and technical work.

In 1984, Resnik was named the president and CEO of Philip Morris USA. As CEO, he was in charge of the company's daily operations and overall direction. In 1989, he became the chairman, which is a very high leadership position.

In 1988, Frank Resnik received the Horatio Alger Award. This award honors people who have achieved great success despite facing challenges. During his career, he also wrote thirty articles for scientific publications.

In January 1991, after working for Philip Morris for thirty-eight years, Frank Resnik retired. He then moved to Jupiter, Florida.

Final Years

Frank Resnik passed away on April 17, 1995, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was buried in St. Vincent Cemetery, located in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
