Frank Sotonoma Salsedo (born May 20, 1929 – died July 3, 2009) was a talented actor who was part of the Native American community. He was also known by his nickname, "Grey Wolf." Frank often played roles that highlighted his Native American background.

He appeared in many movies and TV shows. Some of his well-known roles include Ocacio in The Ghost Dance (1980), Uncle Kipper in Magic in the Water (1995), and Ben Whitemoon in Creepshow 2 (1987).

About Frank Salsedo's Early Life

Frank Sotonoma Salsedo was born on May 20, 1929, in Santa Rosa, California. His parents were Gilbert and Helen Salsedo. Frank grew up with a large family, having five brothers and six sisters.

He went to the Sherman Institute. After finishing school, he joined the United States Navy. When he left the Navy, he became a CPA, which means he was trained to handle money and taxes for people and businesses. He got this training from Sawyer's Business College.

Frank Salsedo's Acting Career

Frank Salsedo found his true passion in acting. He became the President of the Jay Silverheels Acting School in Los Angeles. This is where he discovered his dream job.

As a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Frank acted in more than 50 movies and TV shows. He also helped other Native Americans find their way into the film industry.

One of his first big roles was White Bird in the 1975 TV movie, I Will Fight No More Forever. He also appeared in a 1977 TV series called Code R.

Frank played Charlie in Best of the Best 2 (1993). In 1995, he was Uncle Kipper in the movie Magic in the Water. The next year, he played Nakki in North Star (1996), acting alongside James Caan. In 1998, he appeared with Chris Farley and Matthew Perry in Almost Heroes. He was also in six episodes of the popular TV show Walker, Texas Ranger.

Frank Salsedo's Family and Later Years

Frank Salsedo was the traditional chief of the Wappo tribe. This tribe is from Sonoma County, California.

He was married to Leta Stephens. They had two daughters, Lynette and Eugenia, and two sons, Ramon and Rick. Frank's parents, his brother Delano, his sister Helen Rose, and his wife passed away before him.

Besides "Grey Wolf," Frank also had another nickname, "Beverly Hills."

Frank Salsedo passed away on July 3, 2009, in Manteca, California. He was 80 years old. He is remembered by his many family members, including his sisters, brothers, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
