The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion is a cool place for concerts and shows in Camden, New Jersey. It's an outdoor amphitheatre and an indoor theater complex. You can find it in the Camden Waterfront area, right on the Delaware River across from Philadelphia.

Since it opened in June 1995, this venue has had several different names. It was once known as the Waterfront Music Pavilion, BB&T Pavilion, Susquehanna Bank Center, Tweeter Center, and the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre.

History of the Pavilion

How the Venue Got Its Name

The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion first opened its doors in June 1995. Back then, it was called the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre. This name came from two companies, Blockbuster (a movie rental store) and Sony Music Entertainment, who had the "naming rights." This means they paid to have their names on the building.

On April 1, 2001, the name changed to the Tweeter Center. This happened because Tweeter, an electronics store, bought the naming rights. Later, in 2008, Susquehanna Bank became the new sponsor, and the venue was renamed the Susquehanna Bank Center.

More Recent Name Changes

In 2015, a bank called BB&T bought Susquehanna Bank. So, on August 1, 2015, the venue's name changed again to the BB&T Pavilion.

Then, on January 31, 2022, it was announced that the name would change to the Waterfront Music Pavilion. But just a few months later, in May 2022, it was renamed once more to what it is today: the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

About the Facility

What the Pavilion Offers

This venue is open all year round and can host many different events. During the summer, it works as a large outdoor amphitheater. It can hold up to 25,488 people! The sound system is very advanced, making sure everyone hears the music clearly.

When the weather gets colder in the fall and winter, the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion changes. It becomes a fully enclosed, heated theater. This indoor space can hold up to 7,000 people.
