The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion is a cool place in Camden, New Jersey. It's an outdoor amphitheatre and indoor theater complex. You can find it in the Camden Waterfront area, right on the Delaware River. It's directly across from Philadelphia.
Since it opened in June 1995, this venue has had many different names. It was once known as the Waterfront Music Pavilion, BB&T Pavilion, Susquehanna Bank Center, Tweeter Center, and the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre.
History of the Pavilion's Name
The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion first opened its doors in June 1995. Back then, it was called the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre. This name came from two big companies, Blockbuster and Sony Music Entertainment.
On April 1, 2001, the venue got a new name. It was renamed the Tweeter Center after Tweeter bought the naming rights. In 2008, Susquehanna Bank took over the naming rights. This meant the venue became the Susquehanna Bank Center.
Later, on August 1, 2015, a bank called BB&T bought Susquehanna Bank. So, the venue's name changed again to the BB&T Pavilion. On January 31, 2022, it was announced that the name would change to the Waterfront Music Pavilion. Just a few months later, in May 2022, it was renamed once more to its current name, the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.
