Freienwil is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the district of Baden. It's part of the canton of Aargau in Switzerland.

A Look Back in Time

Freienwil was first written about a very long time ago, between the years 1227 and 1234. Back then, it was known by the name Friginwillare.

Where is Freienwil?

Freienwil covers an area of about 4 square kilometers (about 1.5 square miles). A big part of this land, about 52.6%, is used for farming. Forests cover 38.5% of the area. The remaining 8.9% of the land is where people live and build things.

The village is located on the eastern side of the Siggenberg hills. It sits in a valley between two other valleys: the Limmat valley and the Surb valley. The main stream flowing through Freienwil is called the Rickenbach.
