Limmat facts for kids
The Limmat is an important river in Switzerland. It starts flowing from Lake Zurich and travels northwest until it joins the larger Aare river near the town of Brügg. The name "Limmat" actually comes from two rivers, the Linth and the Maag, which are the main rivers that flow into Lake Zurich.
The Limmat is very important for Switzerland because it helps create a lot of hydroelectric power. This means the river's flowing water is used to make clean electricity for people to use!

Two main rivers flow into the Limmat. The first is the Sihl river, which joins the Limmat right in the city of Zürich. The second is the Reppisch river, which meets the Limmat near the town of Dietikon.
