French Army facts for kids
The French Army, officially called the Ground Army (French: armée de Terre, meaning "Army of land"), is the largest part of France's military forces. It's the part that fights on land.
The French Army works for the French government. Its different groups are led by the Chief of Defence Staff, who is the top military leader in France.
A historian named Niall Ferguson looked at conflicts since 387 BC. He found that France has been involved in 168 of these conflicts. France won 109 of them, lost 49, and had 10 draws. This shows the French Army has a very long and active history!
