The Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music is a special music school. It is part of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. For many years, from 1926 to 2003, it was called the University of Miami School of Music.

About the Frost School of Music
The Frost School of Music was one of the first schools at the University of Miami. It started when the university opened in 1926. Today, more than 700 students attend this school.
In April 2007, Shelly Berg became the new leader, or "dean," of the school. He is a famous American pianist, composer, and producer.
Special Music Programs
The school has cool programs for students. One is the Bruce Hornsby Creative American Music Program. It's named after Bruce Hornsby, who used to be a student there. This program helps young artists and songwriters. They learn about different types of American music.
In 2019, a part of the school was named after the Japanese rock star Yoshiki. This happened after he taught a class to students. He also gave a generous gift to the school.

How the School Got Its Name
On October 16, 2003, something big happened. Two kind people, Phillip Frost and his wife Patricia, gave $33 million to the university. Because of their amazing gift, the school was renamed the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music.
Festival Miami: A Music Celebration
From 1984 to 2017, the Frost School of Music hosted a yearly event called Festival Miami. It was a series of music concerts held every October.

The festival featured many types of music. This included Latin, jazz, classical, and creative American music. It was a chance for everyone to enjoy different musical styles.
