Fruitvale is a small city located in Van Zandt County, Texas, in the United States. In 2020, about 476 people lived there. The city got its name because it is in a historic area known for growing fruit. This area is in the Sabine River valley in northeastern Van Zandt County.

The town was first called Bolen Switch. But around 1901, local fruit growers asked for the name to be changed. A post office was then opened in Fruitvale in 1903. In April 2017, a strong storm caused damage and some injuries in the town. The Fruitvale Independent School District serves students from preschool through 12th grade in Fruitvale.
