Andrei Gabriel Torje (born on November 22, 1989) is a Romanian professional footballer. He plays as a winger, which is a player who focuses on attacking from the sides of the field.

Gabriel Torje was recognized as the Romanian Footballer of the Year in 2011. This award goes to the best football player in Romania.

Gabriel Torje's Football Journey

Early Career at Politehnica Timișoara

Gabriel Torje started his professional football journey in the 2005–06 season. He played for Politehnica Timișoara. He made his first appearance against Argeș Pitești. In only his second match, he scored a goal against Farul Constanța. The famous manager Gheorghe Hagi was the one who brought him into the main team.

Playing for Dinamo Bucharest

On January 15, 2008, Torje joined Dinamo București. He signed a five-year contract with the club. The transfer fee was reported to be around $2.5 million. He played his 100th game in Liga I for Dinamo on May 6, 2011.

Time with Udinese in Italy

On August 30, 2011, Gabriel Torje moved to Italy. He signed a five-year contract with Serie A club Udinese. The transfer fee was rumored to be about €7 million. He played his first game in Serie A on September 11, 2011, against U.S. Lecce. He quickly showed his talent, even with little training time.

On February 5, 2012, Torje scored his first goal in Serie A. This happened in a 3–2 loss against Fiorentina. Later, on March 24, he scored a goal in the 85th minute against Palermo. This goal helped his team get a 1–1 draw.

Loan to Granada in Spain

To get more time on the field, Torje went on loan to La Liga team Granada. This happened on June 8, 2012, for a whole season. He played his first game for the Spanish team on August 20. It was a 1–0 loss against Rayo Vallecano. During that season, he became a very important player for Granada. He was praised for his great performance in a 1–0 win against Real Madrid on February 2, 2013.

Loan to Espanyol

On September 2, 2013, Torje went on another loan in La Liga. This time, he joined RCD Espanyol, a major club in Barcelona. He made his debut for Espanyol on September 23 in a 3–2 win over Athletic Bilbao. He played 12 games for Espanyol but did not score any goals. Because of this, Espanyol did not buy him permanently.

Loan to Konyaspor in Turkey

In June 2014, Torje moved to Turkey. He was loaned to Konyaspor, a team in the Turkish Super Lig, for one season.

Returning to Dinamo București on Loan

On February 2, 2018, he rejoined Dinamo București on loan. This loan lasted until the end of the 2017–18 season.

Playing for Sivasspor

On September 1, 2018, Torje went back to Turkey. He signed a contract with Sivasspor.

Time with AEL in Greece

On February 4, 2020, he signed with AEL, a club in the Superleague. On June 22, 2020, he scored two goals. This helped his team win 3–1 at home against Volos.

Moving to Bandırmaspor

After leaving AEL at the end of 2020, Torje joined Bandırmaspor. This is a Turkish club in the TFF First League. He moved there in January 2021.

Joining Farul Constanța

On June 3, 2022, Torje signed a two-year deal with Farul Constanța. He later left the club on December 29, 2022, after his contract was ended by agreement.

Playing for Gençlerbirliği

On January 6, 2023, Torje joined another Turkish club, Gençlerbirliği. This team also plays in the TFF First League.

Playing for Romania

Gabriel Torje was the captain of the Romania under-21 football team. He also played for the senior national team for the first time on September 3, 2010. This was in a friendly match against Albania.

He scored his first goal for Romania against Cyprus. On September 2, 2011, he scored two goals in a 2–0 win over Luxembourg. These goals were important for the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying. He scored three goals during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Romania reached the play-offs but lost to Greece.

Torje was part of Romania's team for UEFA Euro 2016. He started in Romania's 1–1 draw against Switzerland. He also played briefly as a substitute in losses to France and Albania. These losses meant Romania was out of the tournament.
