Gadsden's Interesting Past
Gadsden began in the mid-1800s. It was an important stop along the Memphis, Clarksville and Louisville Railroad. The town was named after James Gadsden, a well-known American diplomat. He was famous for arranging the Gadsden Purchase, which was a deal where the United States bought land from Mexico.
