Galatia is a small village located in Saline County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2020, about 827 people lived there.

History of Galatia
Galatia got its name from a person named Albert Gallatin. The village started as a place for growing tobacco in the mid-1800s. Farmers would take their tobacco to Shawneetown. From there, it was shipped along the Ohio River.
In the early 1900s, two coal mines opened near Galatia. These were called the Harco Mine and the Galatia Colliers Mine.

Galatia is found at these coordinates: 37°50′25″N 88°36′39″W / 37.84028°N 88.61083°W.
In 2010, Galatia covered a total area of about 1.98 square miles (5.13 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 1.95 square miles (5.05 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.03 square miles (0.08 square kilometers), is water.
There are also coal mines close to Galatia. Scientists have used these mines to study climate change.
