Garrick Ladell McGee (born April 6, 1973) is an American football coach and a former player. He is currently the wide receivers coach for the North Carolina team. Before this, he was the quarterbacks coach at the University of Florida. McGee also served as the head football coach for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 2012 to 2013. He has been an offensive coordinator for several major college teams.

Early Life and Playing Days

Garrick McGee was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He went to Booker T. Washington High School there. After high school, he played college football. He was a quarterback for three different universities. These were Arizona State University, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, and the University of Oklahoma.

Coaching Football Teams

McGee started his coaching career in 1996. He has held many important roles. These include being an assistant coach and a coordinator. An offensive coordinator is like the leader of the team's offense. They plan how the team will score points.

Coaching at Arkansas

In 2010, McGee became the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He helped the team have a great season. They won 10 games and lost only 3. They even played in the 2011 Sugar Bowl, which is a very important game. The team's offense was one of the best in the country. They gained a lot of yards per game.

Leading the UAB Blazers

In December 2011, Garrick McGee became the head coach for the UAB Blazers. A head coach is the main leader of the entire football team. They are in charge of everything. McGee coached the Blazers for two years. During this time, the team won 5 games and lost 19.

Other Coaching Roles

After coaching at UAB, McGee continued his career. In 2014, he became the offensive coordinator for the Louisville Cardinals. He worked there for two years. In 2016, he moved to the University of Illinois. He was also their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He worked with the Illinois team until December 2017. Since then, he has coached for other teams. These include the Missouri Tigers, Florida Gators, and Purdue Boilermakers. As of 2025, he is coaching wide receivers for North Carolina.
