What's in a Name? The Story of Gauley Mills
The name "Gauley Mills" has a cool story behind it. The community got its name because there used to be a sawmill right on the Gauley River, very close to where the community first started. A sawmill is a place where logs are cut into lumber using big saws, often powered by water.
