Geghuni Chitchyan (also spelled Chitchian) is an amazing Armenian composer, pianist, and teacher. She was born on August 30, 1929. Her parents were experienced teachers, and her brother, Henrikh, was a well-known violinist.

About Geghuni Chitchyan
Early Life and Education
Geghuni Chitchyan was born in a city called Leninakan, which is now known as Gyumri in Armenia. She started composing music when she was just a child, attending the Tigranian Elementary School of Music. By the time she was ten years old, she already had a song published!
In 1940, she went to the famous Tchaikovsky Music School, Yerevan in Yerevan. There, she studied both piano and how to compose music. She continued her studies at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1947 to 1953, learning composition from a teacher named Grigor Yeghiazaryan.
Teaching and Career
After finishing her studies, Geghuni Chitchyan became the first director of the composition department at the Konstantin Sarajev Music School in Yerevan. This meant she helped start a new program for students who wanted to learn how to compose.
In 1971, she joined the teachers at the Yerevan Conservatory. She became an assistant professor in 1982 and then a full professor in 1990. This shows how dedicated she was to teaching music to others.
Geghuni Chitchyan has also been very involved in different music groups and social organizations. She joined the Armenian Composers Union in 1955. She was also part of the Women's Council of Armenia and the Artistic Forum of State Radio. She even wrote training guides for music schools and helped write a music textbook for children.
