Benn Gilbert Kamoto (born June 14, 1990) is a famous record producer and singer-songwriter from South Africa, known by his stage name Gemini Major. Early Life and Career Journey
Gemini Major grew up in Malawi and finished high school in 2007. He then studied I.T. (Information Technology) and graduated in 2009. That same year, he moved to Durban, South Africa, to follow his dream of becoming a musician and producer.
He quickly showed his talent by producing music for many different artists. He worked on various music styles, including R&B, hip-hop, house, and dancehall. His music even appeared on popular TV shows like Gold Diggers and Forever Young, which helped more people hear his work.
In 2013, Gemini Major moved to Johannesburg, a major city for music in South Africa. There, he had a lucky meeting with the rapper Cassper Nyovest and his team. After this meeting, he was invited to join Cassper's record label, Family Tree.
Becoming a Top Producer
Gemini Major became very well-known after producing the hit song "Juice Back" for the rapper Nasty C. The song was so popular that it made Gemini Major one of the most wanted producers in South Africa's hip-hop scene. Many top artists wanted to work with him to create their next hit song.
His hard work paid off. In 2015, he was nominated for Producer of the Year at the South African Hip Hop Awards. This was a huge honor, as he was nominated alongside other great producers like Anatii and Riky Rick.
On November 20, 2020, he released his own project, an EP called Slum Kid. An EP is like a short album. It featured many famous artists, including Nasty C, Riky Rick, and Emtee.
