George Robinson MBE (born 30 May 1941) is a former politician from Northern Ireland. He was a member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). From 2003 to 2022, he served as a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for East Londonderry. Before that, he was a Limavady Borough Councillor for almost 30 years, starting in 1985.

Early Life and Public Service
George Robinson was born in Limavady, County Londonderry. His father, Joe, was a soldier who fought in both World War I and World War II. George is the oldest of eight children, with five brothers and two sisters.
He attended Limavady Technical College. During a period known as the Troubles, he served in the army barracks.
Joining Local Government
Robinson began his political career in local government. He was first elected to the Limavady Borough Council in 1985. He represented the Limavady Town area.
In June 2002, he became the Mayor of Limavady Borough Council. During his time as Mayor, he welcomed a visit from the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. He said these were "special days" for Northern Ireland.
Serving in the Assembly
In 2003, George Robinson was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly. He became one of two DUP representatives for the East Londonderry constituency.
In 2004, he had a serious heart attack and later had a double heart bypass operation.
Robinson stepped down as a councillor in December 2013. Edgar Scott took over his role on the council.
Retirement from Politics
On 17 March 2022, George Robinson announced his retirement as an MLA. He mentioned his age as a reason for stepping down. He said that it was time for him to move on. He retired from his role at the 2022 Northern Ireland Assembly election.
