Gerard Lawson, born on January 12, 1985, is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback, which is a defensive position, and also as a kickoff returner, meaning he would catch kicks and run them back.
He started his professional career with the Cleveland Browns in 2008. Before that, he played college football at Oregon State University. He even won the Most Valuable Player award at the 2007 Hula Bowl, which is a special game for college football stars. Lawson also played for other teams like the Hartford Colonials, Philadelphia Eagles, and BC Lions.

Gerard Lawson's Football Journey
Starting with the Cleveland Browns
Gerard Lawson joined the Cleveland Browns in 2008. He was an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't picked in the main NFL draft but was signed by a team afterward. He signed a one-year contract on April 28, 2008.
Lawson played in 20 games for the Browns during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. He made five special teams tackles. He also returned four kickoffs for a total of 115 yards.
Playing for the Hartford Colonials
After leaving the Browns, Lawson played for the Hartford Colonials. This team was part of the United Football League in 2010.
In his very first game for the Colonials, he made a big play. He intercepted a pass and ran it back 41 yards for a touchdown! During that season, he also returned 23 kickoffs for a total of 483 yards.
Time with the Philadelphia Eagles
On December 24, 2010, Lawson signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He joined the team to replace another player who was injured. However, he was released by the Eagles on July 28, 2011.
Playing in Canada with the BC Lions
Lawson then moved to Canada to play football. He signed with the BC Lions on April 24, 2012. The BC Lions are a team in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played with them for a little over a year before being released on June 16, 2013.
