The Story of Ghent's Name
Ghent was first known as Grand View. It was officially planned out in 1878. The city's current name comes from the city of Ghent in Belgium. A post office was set up in 1874 under the name Grandview. It was later renamed Ghent in 1882. The city officially became a city in 1899.
