Gideon is a small city located in New Madrid County, Missouri, in the United States. It is situated in the western part of the "Bootheel" region of Missouri. In 2020, about 780 people called Gideon home.

History of Gideon
Gideon began around the year 1900. It was first created as a town for a lumber company. The town's layout was officially planned in 1903. It was named in honor of Frank Gideon, who was a businessperson in the lumber industry. A post office has been serving Gideon since 1902.
Geography of Gideon
Gideon is mainly located around the spot where two state roads meet: Missouri Route 153 and Missouri Route 162. This area is in the western part of Missouri's unique "Bootheel" region. The city of Clarkton is just to the west of Gideon.
The city covers a total area of about 1.80 square miles (4.66 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a very small part being water.

- Mark Littell is a former professional baseball pitcher. He played for the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals. Mark Littell grew up in Gideon.
