Clarkton is a small city located in Dunklin County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,009 people lived there. Clarkton is special because it is the oldest city in Dunklin County.

History of Clarkton
Clarkton was first known by a different name, Beech. The town was officially planned and named Clarkton in 1876. Its current name comes from Henry E. Clark. He was a contractor who worked on a new road leading to the town.
A post office called Beech opened in 1855. Later, in 1870, its name was changed to Clarkton, just like the town.
Where is Clarkton?
Clarkton is found at 36°27′3″N 89°58′4″W / 36.45083°N 89.96778°W. It sits where two main roads meet: Missouri Route 25 and Missouri Route 162. This area is in the western part of Missouri known as the "Bootheel."
Nearby towns include Gideon to the east and Holcomb to the southwest. The city covers a total area of about 1.13 square miles (2.93 km2), and all of it is land.
