Glenealy (Irish: Gleann Fhaidhle) is a small village in County Wicklow, Ireland. It is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) west of Wicklow Town. The R752 road passes through the village. The railway line that connects Dublin to Rosslare also goes through Glenealy.

The village has been growing in size. Many people who work in Dublin have moved here. Between 1996 and 2016, the number of people living in Glenealy grew from 383 to 694. In 2022, the population was 623 people.

Glenealy has a school where kids learn. There is also a local pub and a small shop. Locals often call the shop the 'yellow shop'.

A long time ago, in the early medieval period, Glenealy was home to an old monastery. This monastery was started by St. Enan. He was connected to St. Kevin, who was a very famous saint. Another saint, St. Molibba, who was St. Kevin's nephew, also worked in Wicklow during that time.

Sports in Glenealy

Glenealy is well-known for its hurling team, the Glenealy Hurling Club. Hurling is a traditional Irish sport. The club has won the Wicklow Senior Hurling Championship 16 times! Their most recent win was in 2018.

In 2017, the Glenealy Hurling Club made history. They were the first team from Wicklow to reach a Leinster Final. This is a very big achievement in Irish hurling. They played in the Leinster intermediate club championship final, but they lost by just one point to Ballyragget from Kilkenny.
