Glenwood is a city in Pope County, Minnesota, United States. It is also the main town, or county seat, of Pope County. In 2020, about 2,657 people lived there. Glenwood is located right on the northeastern shore of Lake Minnewaska, which is a big draw for visitors.

History of Glenwood

Glenwood was first planned out in 1866. It got its name from the beautiful "glen" (a small valley) and woods nearby. A post office opened in Glenwood in 1867. The city officially became an incorporated city in 1912.

Geography and Lake Minnewaska

Glenwood covers an area of about 5.86 square miles (15.11 square kilometers), and all of it is land.

The city is located at the eastern end of Lake Minnewaska. This large lake is a popular spot, especially in the summer, bringing many people to the area for fun activities. Several main roads, like Minnesota State Highways 28, 29, 55, and 104, meet in Glenwood.
