Glenwood is a small village located in Schuyler County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, about 181 people lived there. It is part of the larger Kirksville area.

History of Glenwood
Glenwood was founded in November 1868 by Alexander and Stiles Forsha. The very first home in the village was built a month before by John B. Glaze. By 1869, Glenwood already had a schoolhouse. It also had a two-story brick building with space for four businesses.
The village grew quickly because it was located where two railroads crossed. These were the St. Louis, Kansas City & Nebraska Railroad and the Keokuk & Western railway. By 1873, Glenwood had many factories. These included a large woolen factory, a flour mill, and a wagon factory. The town's first newspaper, The Glenwood Citerion, started in 1870. Logan's Bank, the first bank in town, opened in 1875.
In 2011, the United States Postal Service announced that the Glenwood post office would close permanently. This was part of a plan to reorganize post offices across the country.
Important People from Glenwood
- James Ward Rector (1903 - 1979) was born in Glenwood. He became a Wisconsin Supreme Court jurist, which means he was a judge on the highest court in Wisconsin.
