Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja (born on January 29, 1940) is a very successful Indian-British businessman. He helps lead the Hinduja Group, a huge group of companies from India. For many years, he was the co-chairman with his brother, Srichand "S. P." Hinduja, who passed away in May 2023. Gopichand and his brother were often named among the richest people in the UK and Asia. In 2024, he was ranked as the wealthiest person in the UK, with his family's fortune estimated at £37 billion.
Business Journey
The Hinduja brothers started their careers in their father's family businesses. These businesses focused on selling clothes and other goods in places like Bombay, India, and Tehran, Iran. They had early success selling things like onions, potatoes, and iron ore from India to Iran.
In the 1980s, the Hinduja Group grew a lot. They bought big companies like Ashok Leyland (which makes vehicles) and Gulf Oil (an oil company). In the 1990s, they also started banks in Switzerland and India. Because of these big steps, the Hinduja Group became one of India's most famous businesses. It joined the ranks of other well-known names like Tata and Ambani.
In 2012, the Group bought a US company called Houghton International. This company is the world's largest maker of metal fluids. The deal cost $1.045 billion.

In May 2019, Gopichand and his brother Srichand were again named the UK's wealthiest people by The Times UK. Gopichand stayed in the top spot in 2022. His estimated wealth grew to about £35 billion in 2023 and £37.2 billion in 2024.

Personal Life
Gopichand is married to Sunita Hinduja. They have three children: two sons, Sanjay Hinduja and Dheeraj Hinduja, and one daughter, Rita Hinduja. The Hinduja family comes from the Sindhi region. Gopichand is vegetarian.
In 2015, his son Sanjay Hinduja married Anu Mahtani, a designer, in Udaipur, India. The wedding was a big event and included performances by pop singers Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Scherzinger.
