Grandmother Mountain is a cool mountain located in the North Carolina High Country. You can find it near the town of Linville. This entire mountain is part of the beautiful Pisgah National Forest. It sits right next to the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.
Grandmother Mountain stands tall at about 4,603 feet (1,403 meters) above sea level. Its high peaks help create small streams. These streams then flow into the Linville River.
What's on Top of the Mountain?
At the very top of Grandmother Mountain, you'll find a special tower. This tower is called WUNE-DT. It helps broadcast the University of North Carolina Public Television (UNC-TV/PBS) on channel 17. This means people can watch educational shows thanks to the tower on the mountain!
