The Grapes of Wrath is a novel published in 1939 and written by John Steinbeck. The book won both the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in Literature. It is often read in American high school and college classes.
The book is about the Joads, a family of farmers. It takes place during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. Because of drought and changes in the agriculture industry, the Joads are forced to move from their old home to the California's Central Valley to find work and land.
The book talks about the problems they face on the way, as they drive through the Dust Bowl to get to California. It also talks about the poverty, discrimination, and other problems they face once they get to California.
