Park History and Development

Protecting Rare Animals

In 2007, Great Cats World Park had to follow special rules for one month. This was because they bought an ocelot without proper permission. Ocelots are rare animals. There are strict rules about selling them. These rules help protect these animals from being bought and sold too much. The park's owner, Craig Wagner, agreed that he had bought the ocelot for $3,000. The ocelot continued to live at Great Cats World Park. Officials sometimes let animals stay where they are well cared for. This helps avoid moving them to new places.

Ensuring Animal and Staff Safety

In 2016, an employee at the park was hurt. A tiger bit the employee's arm. The United States Department of Agriculture looked into this incident. They also confirmed that there had been four reports of animal bites over the years. These reports led to official complaints against the park.
