How Gregory Got Its Name
This community was named after a person called J. Gregory Smith. He was an important official who worked for the railroad. Back then, railroads were super important for travel and moving goods. Many places were named after people who helped build or manage these vital transportation routes.
Getting Around
Even though Gregory is a small community, a major train line passes right through it. The Empire Builder train, run by Amtrak, travels on BNSF Railway tracks through Gregory. This train connects big cities like Seattle and Portland, Oregon on the west coast to Chicago in the Midwest. However, the train does not stop in Gregory. The closest place to catch the train is the St. Cloud station, which is about 31 miles (50 kilometers) south of Gregory.
