Grove is a small town located in Allegany County, New York, in the United States. In 2020, about 497 people lived here. Grove is in the northeast part of Allegany County, which is northwest of a city called Hornell.

A Look at Grove's History
The town of Grove started in 1827. It was first known as "Church Tract." This new town was created from a part of Nunda town. Nunda was located in Livingston County at that time.
In 1828, the town changed its name to Grove. People think it got this name because there were many trees, or "groves," in the area. Later, in 1838, Grove lost some of its land. This land was used to form a new town called Granger.
Famous People from Grove's Past
One interesting person from Grove's history was Frederick Decker. He was known as the "Ossian Giant." He was very tall, about 7 feet, 6 inches, and weighed 385 pounds. Frederick was born in Geneseo in 1836. He traveled around the country showing himself because of his great size. Later, he settled down in Grove. He passed away in 1886 and was buried there.

Grove covers a total area of about 87.3 square kilometers (33.7 square miles). Most of this area, about 86.4 square kilometers (33.4 square miles), is land. The rest, about 0.9 square kilometers (0.34 square miles), is water.
Roads and Waterways
New York State Route 70 is an important road that goes through the northeast part of the town.
Canaseraga Creek is a stream that flows out of a wet area called The Swamp. This creek then heads towards the town of Canaseraga. Sometimes, people from nearby Swain call this area the Swain Swamp.

Places and Communities in Grove
- Brewers Corners – This spot is in the middle of the town. You can find it where Johnson Hill Road and Ridge Road meet.
- Grove – This is a small hamlet, which is a tiny village. It's located near the southern border of the town. You can reach it by taking County Route 15B, also known as Fink Hollow Road.
- Rosses – Another hamlet found at the northern border of the town on NY 70. Part of Rosses actually extends into Livingston County.
- Swain – This hamlet is in the northeast corner of Grove. It's at the crossing of County Route 24 and NY 70. It was named after Samuel Swain, who was a surveyor and developer in the 1800s.
- Swain Ski Resort – Close to Swain, this is a popular place for skiing and snowboarding. It's the oldest ski resort still operating in New York State!
