Canaseraga Creek is a stream in New York State. It flows through Livingston, Steuben, and Allegany counties. This creek is a branch of the larger Genesee River. Its watershed covers about 334-square-mile (870 km2). This makes it the biggest sub-watershed of the Genesee River.
The name of the creek comes from the Seneca language. Old records show names like Ganusgago and Kanuskago. These names can mean "among the milkweeds" or "slippery elms".

Where Does Canaseraga Creek Flow?
Canaseraga Creek starts in the town of Nunda. This is in Livingston County. At first, the creek flows south. Then, it turns east and goes through the village of Canaseraga. After that, it flows north.

The creek passes west of the village of Dansville. It keeps flowing north. Finally, it joins the Genesee River. This meeting point is east of the village of Mount Morris. It's also just below the Mount Morris Dam.

Whitewater Rafting Adventures
For those seeking adventure, whitewater rafting is possible on the upper parts of the creek. There's an eight-mile (13 km) section upstream from Dansville. This part has exciting Class IV and V rapids. These are considered difficult rapids. However, the water levels are often too low for rafting. The best time to go is usually during spring floods.
