History of Guide Rock
The first people started to settle in the area of Guide Rock in 1870. The village was officially planned and laid out in 1873.
How Guide Rock Got Its Name
The village is named after a special hill called Guide Rock. This important hill is located on the opposite side of the Republican River from the village. It likely served as a landmark for early travelers.
