Gurabo Abajo is a special kind of neighborhood called a barrio in the town of Juncos, Puerto Rico. It is located in the eastern part of Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 4,857 people lived there.
Gurabo Abajo is known for its beautiful green landscapes. It is a quiet place where many families live. The barrio is part of the larger municipality of Juncos.
History of Gurabo Abajo
Puerto Rico used to be controlled by Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government did a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that the combined population of Gurabo Abajo and a nearby barrio called Mamey was 1,679 people.
