Gylmar dos Santos Neves (born August 22, 1930 – died August 25, 2013), known simply as Gilmar, was a legendary Brazilian football player. He was an amazing goalkeeper who played for the Brazil national football team. Gilmar is famous for being a key part of the Brazilian teams that won the FIFA World Cup in 1958 and 1962. Many people consider him one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.

Gilmar's Club Career
Gilmar started his football journey in his hometown. He played for a youth team called Jabaquara from 1945 to 1951.
Playing for Corinthians
After his youth career, Gilmar joined Corinthians, a big club in Brazil. He played for Corinthians from 1951 to 1961. During his time there, he played in 486 matches. He became known for his calm style and excellent saves.
Moving to Santos FC
In 1961, Gilmar moved to Santos, another very famous Brazilian club. He played alongside the legendary Pelé at Santos. This team was one of the best in the world during the 1960s. Gilmar played 266 games for Santos until 1969. With Santos, he won many important titles, including the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup.
International Career with Brazil
Gilmar was the main goalkeeper for the Brazilian national team for many years. He played for his country from 1953 to 1969. In total, he played 94 matches for Brazil.

Gilmar was a vital part of the Brazilian team that won the 1958 FIFA World Cup in Sweden. This was Brazil's first World Cup title.
