Hader is a small, unincorporated community located in Goodhue County, Minnesota, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. It's a quiet place where important roads meet.
The community of Hader is easy to find because it sits right where several major roads cross. These include U.S. Highway 52, State Highway 57, and Goodhue County Road 8.
Hader is spread across two different areas called townships: Leon Township and Wanamingo Township. If you're looking for nearby towns, you'll find Zumbrota, Wanamingo, Goodhue, and Cannon Falls not too far away.
Interestingly, several different ZIP codes meet up around Hader. These include 55992 (for Zumbrota), 55983 (for Wanamingo), 55009 (for Cannon Falls), and 55027 (for Goodhue).
A Look Back at Hader's History
Hader was first started way back in 1857 by a person named Otis F. Smith. When it was founded, there was a big plan for Hader to become the "county seat." A county seat is the main town in a county where the government offices are located.
However, these plans didn't work out as expected. The area wasn't fully developed, and only a few buildings were constructed at that time. So, Hader never became the county seat.
