Why Hadley Was Built
Hadley was created because of changes in mining. In the 1970s and 1980s, mining at Round Mountain shifted. Miners started using open-pit methods instead of underground tunnels.
Expanding the Mining Operations
By 1987, a company called Round Mountain Gold was growing. They needed more homes for their many new workers. It was hard to build more houses at the old Round Mountain townsite.
Finding a New Location
So, the company looked for other places to build. Within two years, they bought a ranch in Smoky Valley. This ranch belonged to a person named Ingvard Christianson. They then started planning and building the new town of Hadley.
Life in Hadley
Even though the original Round Mountain town still exists, Hadley became the main community. It was built by and for Round Mountain Gold. Because of this, people often call Hadley and the surrounding areas Round Mountain. Sometimes, they even include the town of Carvers in this name.
Community Facilities
Hadley has many useful places for its residents. There is an elementary school for younger kids. Older students can attend the high school. The town also has a library for reading and learning.
Recreation and Fun
For fun and exercise, Hadley offers a swimming pool. There is also a golf course for those who enjoy the sport. A football field provides space for games and activities.
