History of the Church Building
The church building was first built in 1928. It was originally known as the Ham Free Evangelical Church. During World War II, Wilfred Sayer was the pastor. His brother and two sons followed him as pastors.
Church services stopped in 1979 for a while. However, the church reopened after some updates. Peter Dunn became the minister at that time. Later, Mark Farmer took over in 1988. Mildred Howes and Bob McClure also served as ministers. The building was renovated in 1998 by the Duke Street Church, Richmond. Since then, it has been known as Emmanuel Church.
Church Activities and Services
The Ham Christian Centre holds a church service every Sunday morning. People gather to worship and learn together. Prayer meetings are also held regularly. These meetings usually take place in people's homes.
Community Use of the Centre
The church building is not just for church activities. It is also used by the local community. This means different groups and people in the area can use the space for their own events.
