Johannes Löhr (born July 5, 1942 – died February 29, 2016) was a famous German football player and manager. He was known for being a powerful striker (a player who scores goals).
Löhr played for 1. FC Köln for many years. He scored 166 goals for them in the top German league. This is more goals than any other player in the club's history! He joined the team in August 1964. In the 1967–68 season, he scored 27 goals. This made him the top scorer in the league that year. He was the first player from 1. FC Köln to achieve this.
Löhr also played for the West Germany national team. He played 20 games for his country and scored five goals.

Playing for West Germany
Johannes Löhr was an important player for the West German national team. He played in the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. He played in all six games for his team during this tournament.
World Cup Highlights
In the 1970 World Cup, Löhr played as a left-side attacker. One of his most famous moments was in the quarter-final match against England. In extra time, he headed the ball back across the goal. This helped Gerd Muller score the winning goal. West Germany won that exciting game 3–2.
European Championship Success
Löhr was also part of the West German team that won the UEFA European Championship in 1972. This was a big achievement for him and his country.
After His Playing Career
After he stopped playing football, Hannes Löhr became a manager.

He managed his old club, 1. FC Köln, from 1983 to 1986.
Coaching National Teams
In 1986, he started working for the DFB. He coached the West German Olympic team. This team won a Bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
